Many copies were given to distinguished visitors and nobility, and this example retains its fine original red morocco Restoration binding with marbled end papers.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThis copy was in the library of he Dukes of Marlborough at Blenheim Palace for many generations until the family unfortunately ran short of money. Winston Chirchill's Grandfater, John Spencer-Churchill sold off the Palace Library in a huge auction termed the Sunderland Library sale. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWinston Churchill was 8 at the time so likely saw the books being packed up and carted off to auction. Many of the fine books were purchased by the firm Bernard Quaritch \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003ewho remain a major London Book dealer to this day. Bernard Quaritch was obviously pleased with his purchase as he pasted a bookplate into the inside cover which still remains!\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eVery good condition overall. A few marks here and there to the binding. Housed in modern Solander box.
