Of particular interest are the extensive lists relating to convicts, including those assigned to employment, and lists of those that have absconded. These notices offer record of the administration’s attempts to control the large convict population. Alongside this are notices relating to the functioning of the colony including shipping movements, mail services, government tenders for supplies and works, and the publication of official acts and regulations. The volume forms an interesting documentary record of the economic and administrative life in early 19th Century Sydney.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\" align=\"center\" style=\"text-align: start; box-sizing: inherit; color: rgba(37, 37, 37, 0.75); font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; orphans: 2; widows: 2; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; text-decoration-thickness: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-decoration-color: initial; word-spacing: 0px;\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-family: 'Cambria',serif; letter-spacing: .45pt;\"\u003eImportantly, this volume was printed by Ann Howe (c.1802–1842), the earliest woman newspaper proprietor in Australia.
