c1300 Century Antiphonal fragment with illuminated Letter "G"

Text in gothica textura with Musical notation on 4 staves.

15 x 15cm approx

Illuminated initial in blue, green red and gold with some late Romanesque features.

The Illuminated letter "G" signifies the start of the Introitus chant "Gaudeamus omnes in Domino" (Let us all rejoice in the Lord) which is used for the Mass on the Feast of All Saints or the most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Likely recovered from a manuscript binding. Worn and cut to shape for previous binding. Stains and smudging to page.

5 smaller Lombard initials are also present of 2 to 4 lines in size.

The other chant on the left side of the page is "Regina Mundi dignissima virgo Maria Perpetua"
