Early 13th Century Mediaeval hand written Vulgate Bible leaf of the book of Micah. With rubrication to the text and ornate lettering designs to the page in blue and red. It is likely Parisian or English given the style of writing and is arranged according to the chapter division attributed to Stephen Langton, Archbishop of Canterbury (1207-28). This ~800 year old leaf is double sided with beautiful calligraphy and is written on a fine vellum. The Text is of the Book of Micah Chapters 1-5. This is one of the most important Old Testament texts for prophesying Jesus's birth in Bethlehem. 17x14cm approx - good condition - some darkening to the vellum in the upper area leaf and a later ink scrawl to the lower leaf (not affecting text)
