Contemporary ownership inscription of Charlotte Ann Macbride. Possibly the wife of Admiral Sir Willoughby Lake of the Royal Navy, who fought in the Napoleonic wars and who was later appointed Commander of the North America Station

Intricate contemporary gilt binding with foliate decoration and pointillé details. Spine with 5 bands and gilt decoration. Green and gold “Dutch” end papers to inner boards of both volumes.

Condition: Wear and bumps to corners, joints and upper and lower spine. Generally more wear to spine with fold mark on centre of each spine commensurate with use. Joints firm and interior clean. Otherwise generally very good.
