One of the earliest, and most important, English maps of Africa. This taken from "Prospect of the Most Famous Parts of the World (1627)" and published in 1665 by Roger Rae. Rae’s editions are the rarest Speed maps as his press was burnt down in the fire of London and he was unable to publish any further editions.
The map is based on Dutch sources and engraved by Abraham Goos. It is surrounded by maps of famous cities and depictions of the peoples of Africa
