This rare survivor from the second world war is signed by the soldiers on H.M.Transport No.25, which included Māori reinforcements for the celebrated 28th Māori Battalion. 

The Māori influence on this ship's magazine can be seen by the cover, which was designed by Pineamine Taiapa, and articles including "The revival of the Haka".

 Pineamine Taiapa was one of the most important Māori wood carvers of the 20th Century. He had a strong influence on the revival of traditional Māori wood carving (whakairo).
