This is a 1520 Lyon edition of Thomas Aquinas’ work published by Jacques Giunta, of the famous Giunta publishing dynasty. Interestingly Jacques daughters would go on to take over his printing press which was uncommon at that time. This book is complete with [4],148 pages with a beautiful full engraved title page with rubrication to some text and to the fleur-de-lis, which defines the Giunta publishing house.

The volume is titled “Enarratio lucidissima in profundum atque difficilem sancti Job prophete librum vobis cedit clari lectores vel nunc Campestri recognition “ – “A Clear account of the Deep and Challenging Book of the Prophet Job”. In this work, Aquinas explores why God allows Job, a religious man, to suffer and test his faith. Aquinas’ interpretation relies not only on the spiritual text, bit also frequently draws upon work of the philosopher Aristotle. The book is in full 19th Century vellum to style and is in octavo format
