Fine Binding from Napoleon I's Library - 1804 Martini Organ work dedicated to Empress Josephine - Folio
Here's a lovely example of a book from Napoleon I's Library which was dedicated to his wife - Empress Josephine.
The handsome binding can be identified by the golden armorial crest of Napoleon I on the boards. This supralibros was in use between c1805-1807 and is described in the definitive records of his bindings (Olivier 2652 - fer 7)
Dedicated to his wife - Josephine - the folio work was published in 1804 and contains Organ music written by Jean-Paul-Egide Martini. The work's dedication to Josephine - who was a lover of music - is a nice touch, although she wasn't an organ player herself!
