L'Isole più famose del mondo was one of the most popular atlases of the late sixteenth century, treating the world as a collection of islands. The atlas contians 2 world maps, a very early map of North America, a map of the spice islands as well as many maps of European Islands, Great Britain, Hispaniola and the Caribbean This third edition contains seventeen additional maps, mostly of the islands of the Greek archipelago, which were introduced in the 1576 edition. This copy has a distinguished provenance from the Earl of Macclesfield's Library - sold in Sothebys in 2007.
