-This copy is complete in 3 parts: [2 blanks] 50, 70 [6],110 [6], [2 blanks] and contains fascinating 14th Century binding waste as fly leaves. These are likely Italian legal documents but may require further work to translate fully. It’s bound in 19th Century full vellum with guilt gauffered edges to pages
The work was written by Pope Gregory First around 590 and was hugely influential to the early church. A copy of the work was taken to England by Augustine of Canterbury in 597, and it was later translated into Old English by Alfred the Great in the 9th Century to improve the education of the clergy in England during the Anglo Saxon period.
