The binding is a classic 17th Century binding from the  golden age of English book binding . It uses intricate tooling - including delicate four-petaled floral shapes, overlapping drawer handle motifs, and pointelle decoration. The tooling is consistent with the Queen s binder A, who was active during the restoration period, and whose name comes from a series of similar bindings from the Libraries of Catherine of Braganza and Mary of Modena - the wives of King Charles II and James II.

The book, written by the Oxford priest Henry Tozer, is a classic puritan tract which invites the reader to dedicate their life to God and to the Holy Communion.
