-Original Quarter calf with wear.

-1799 - London

This copy contains a fascinating letter, dated 24 Thermidor (year 7 of the Republic or 1799) by the author - General Ramel - addressed to the "representatives" saying that he has attached a memoir and hopes that by reading it they will be convinced to do him justice.

Ramel was deported after failing to stand down during the 18th Fructidor Coup (1797) while defending the royalists, who were later expelled. Ramel was punished by being sent to the French colony of Guiana in South America. He later escaped to Dutch Guiana, and Later London where this popular account was published.
